Things a Landlord Should Replace?
I already have an apartment but was given the option of taking another unit. I had the chance to take a look and this is a list of things I thought needed some fixing-
screen sliding door-screen is just hangin off, not all
ceiling tiles- very yellow discolored some have mold
kitchen stove- just not cleaned in a very long, long time.
kitchen sink/counter- the surface is warped and just looks bubbly, very dirty and scummy
Bathroom- sink has like 50 burn marks from previous tenant/smokers,has no medicine cabinet/mirror,floor tiles are DIRTY,and so is the stand up shower floor horrible
and thats it
I only like the unit because its weird and it has character. It has a fireplace and comes with a patio which is cool. But does the landlord have to fix anything at all before I move in, or would I just have to deal with it? Thanks
Thanks for all your replies, they are very helpful. Well, if everything I mentioned is cosmetic then do you think I should try to replace things myself and bring it to the landlords attention? Does he even have to repay anything? I know this may sound silly but I’ve never dealt with this kind of situation before. Thanks
